Springtime!

A new afghan I finished up, and I just love it. I made this out of soft yarn (I Love This Yarn and Caron Simply Soft) in aqua, lime and soft yellow. This is perfect for a baby/toddler blanket, and would fit a crib/toddler bed mattress perfectly.

Great for tummy time and because of its large size, the lucky child could seriously use this throughout their life.

I used soft yarns and pretty baby colors, but the pattern itself is based off an adult pattern and measures a very large 62"x44".

Of course, it can be made in any selection of colors. I originally wanted to do the fun colors of aqua, lime and hot pink but decided to use the pale yellow instead to keep it a unisex blanket, great for boys or girls.

Whatcha think?

First!

This is my first post on the new blog with an actual item in it! This adult afghan is from an old pattern of my grandmother, Prudie Souder. She died in 1995 and I miss her every day. One of the neat things about this pattern is she had written her name at the top -- I love those little things like: Granny's handwriting that I get to see every time I make this afghan.

This particular one was created in my daughter's high school colors. Carly is a senior this year, and I'm donating this afghan toward the Senior Celebration fund raiser. You can see that I used maroon/white/gray for our school colors, but of course it can be made in any combination of colors. I'm experimenting right now with a new set and I'm loving the way it's coming out!

Some of the photos show the maroon looking a bit "brick red". That's due to the lighting. It's a very true maroon shade and I'm quite happy with it. I'd consider this medium-sized adult measuring 65x40.

You can also find this item in my Etsy shop. So pretty!

TADA!

After much gnashing of the teeth and a ton of trial and error, I think I finally have my new blog looking the way I want to (many apologies to Alastair Stephens for helping me and then I junked the original!) I plan on creating pages to get to items by category, but in the meantime, I promise to TRY to remember to tag each thing I post to make it easier to find (i.e. afghan, apron, etc)

So please come back and see the new look as it progresses. I'm about to post my first item on here and hope to get my Etsy shop up and running soon. Fingers crossed!
